A team of innovative thinkers called Studio FATHOM has designed a new kind of convection oven. The oven named as Pyra, has been produced in a new unique way by making use of 3D printed engineering grade plastics. Adding to that, it also cooks food in a new way, utilising an intricate system of air ducts that circulate hot air, providing uniform temperatures to all surfaces of the food stuff. According to the Studio FATHOM team, this pyramid shaped oven, Pyra is a “transformative device that can serve as anything from a tool in a science laboratory to a grill at your next barbecue.”

It is to be noted that the oven operates independent of any flame source; instead it has a fan fitted at the base of the 3D printed structure that circulates air over heating elements. This circulating air helps in raising the temperature of the oven to 375 degrees. The thermal chamber in Pyro was originally designed for various scientific applications like cell culture incubation.

The Studio FATHOM team opines: “In a larger sense, the device serves as a glimpse into the future of how products will be designed, manufactured, and used on both consumer and commercial levels.”
