Two Oscars for India !’Naatu naatu’ and ‘Elephant Whisperers’ win the reputed Oscars!
After taking the entire world by storm, ‘Naatu naatu’ the amazing foot tapping number from the movie ‘RRR’ has reached the pinnacle of its success by winning their dream award – the Oscars! SS Rajamouli’s film RRR has already become a global sensation and people all around the globe are going ga ga over the film’s story, action sequences and of course – music. For the west, Rajamouli opened the doors of a new kind of cinema and the Westerners are simply in awe of the film. One of its songs ‘Naatu naatu’ had become an instant sensation because of its music and super creative choreography. The ‘Naatu naatu’ step had become a rage on all the social media platforms around the world.
Earlier, in January, the same song had declared its supremacy by winning the much coveted Golden Globe award for the Best Original Song and it was not an easy win because the song beat the likes of Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga. There were a few people who were stunned by the song winning the Golden Globes but the Oscars prove that it wasn’t just a fluke or some whim of the jury. ‘Naatu naatu’ winning the Oscar for Best Original Song has cemented the position of India, its films and its music (who can forget A R Rahman’s ‘Jai Ho’ at the Oscars?!)

The social media platforms were flooded with congratulatory messages. Prime minister Narendra Modi was one of the first to congratulate the RRR team. The South as well as Hindi Film Industry are finding it hard to keep calm and there have been a barrage of congratulatory messages on the internet. The whole country is feeling proud. Amidst all this hoopla, a simple short documentary film ‘Elephant Whisperers’ has also won the country an Oscar in the category of Best Short Documentary Film. It is a beautiful documentary based on elephants and people who rear them .
