That One Time When Hema Malini Sang With Kishore Kumar
Hema Malini is one of the most successful actresses in Bollywood history. She has starred in over 100 films and is known for her versatility and her willingness to go the extra mile. One example of this is when she sang a duet with Kishore Kumar in the film Haath Ki Safaai.

Hema Malini was not a trained singer, but she was always willing to learn new things. She enjoyed the experience of singing with Kishore Kumar and said that he was a very supportive partner. She reveals : “Yes, that wasPeene Walon Ko Peene Ka Bahana ChahiyeinHaath Ki Safaai,” Hemaji remembers the song well but doesn’t think she did full justice to it. “I was so busy back then, working multi-shifts in various films. I didn’t want to sing. Why should I when Lataji(Mangeshkar) was there? But everyone insisted so I said, why not?”

“Everyone knew I was not doing this to prove what a good singer I am. The composers Kalyanji-Anandji had given me nice rap passages to do while he (Kishore Kumar) did the actual singing. I just took the Almighty’s name and plunged into it,” she says.

Hema Malini did not sing in any other films, but she did record some non-film bhajans. She was a dedicated actress and never thought about being a star. She was more interested in her work than in the fame that came with it. Hema Malini’s collaboration with Kishore Kumar is just one example of her many talents.

In an interview, Hema Malini said about her career: “I have always been passionate about acting and dancing. I am grateful for the opportunities that I have been given and I am always looking for new challenges.” Hema Malini is a true Bollywood icon and her legacy will continue to inspire for generations to come.
