Long airplane journeys can be very tiring. Has it ever come to your mind where does the crew go to relax during such flights? It may be surprising for you that many of the airplanes today have secret compartments where the crew can take their little naps.

Only a few people get a chance to see these, many don’t even know they exist. So take a look and make sure you don’t miss it!

The rest area for the crews is usually located in front of the airplane, above the first class. The image below shows the location in Boeing 777.

There’s a secret stairway that leads to these compartments. The stairs are located behind a hidden door near the cockpit. Not everyone has access to this door.

Up the stairs are cosy windowless bedrooms with enough space for the crew to lay their legs. This image is that of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

While some of the flights have bunk beds in these cabins.

Pilots too have their overhead sleeping compartments, which have two sleepy berths and two business class seats. There is also ample space for a closet, sink and lavatory.

The bedrooms generally have reading lights, heavy curtains, hooks, mirrors and storage space. They also have blankets and pillows for a comfy nap.

The crew seems to be enjoying their comfortable space.

There is an emergency exit too under one of the beds which gets back to the main cabin.
