Those who have faced the trouble, know that bed bug infestation is one of the most troublesome menace. These bugs don’t come inside your house just like that, they are generally carried in, unknowingly, from public places like dormitory etc. Most of these bugs develop resistance to common insecticides and they are extremely difficult to get rid of.
Scientists researched a lot on bed bugs and their infestations. During this process, there were some stunning information collected by the scientists. Recent research suggests that the bed bugs have some typical preferences. Knowing those, will make our life easier by avoiding those instances. It sounds amazing but these bed bugs are having strong negative and positive preferences for certain colours and they show indifference towards the other colours!
In a study carried out by University of Florida and Union College in Lincoln, researchers pointed out how exactly the colour preference was tested (described in the video below). The results indicate the strong preference of the bed bugs for RED AND BLACK colours. The more interesting fact is that they actually hate GREEN and YELLOW colours. Scientists indicated that these preferences are connected to evolution and they acquired these based on adaptation. After knowing this you would like to avoid red and black sheets and will embrace green and yellow. The common sense tells us to avoid the colours like dark navy or brown which are closer to back or red.
