The whole Bollywood woke up to a shocking news today morning – beloved, actor, director, screen writer and a great friend to many – Satish Kaushik passed away due to a massive heart attack at 66. It wasn’t his time to go, he still had lot of life and cinema left in him. His friends, his colleagues and his fans are equally devastated! 1 Calendar in Mr. India
Who can forget the funny but lovable ‘Calendar’ in the cult classic Mr. India? “Calendar khana do” became synonymous with Satish’s character and his genuine, natural performance in this film made him the most likeable character in the film.
2 Pappu Pager in Deewana Mastana
The role was as quirky as the name given to Satish’s character in the film ‘Deewana Mastana’. The film was a romantic comedy starring Anil Kapoor and Govinda but Satish’s character Pappu Pager succeeded in gathering a large fan base for itself. It will always remain one of his most memorable and successful characters.
3 Mutthu Swamy in Sajan Chale Sasural
Satish Kaushik shined whenever he did comedy with David Dhawan, so this film and this role wasn’t any exception to the rule. Starring along side the super talented and funny Govinda, Mutthu Swamy’s character played by Satish Kaushik had an instant connection with the audiences and was a big hit.
4 Chanda Mama in Mr. & Mrs. Khiladi
And yet again a David Dhawan film! Satish Kaushik played the loving character of Chanda Mama – an astrologer. The camaraderie between Satish and Akshay Kumar was immensely loved by the audiences and this role still remains one of the most popular characters played by Satish Kaushik.
It is sad that Satish Kaushik passed away too soon but it is a respite that we have so many films and amazing roles of his, that will help us revisit his wonderful art again and again. Rest in peace dear Satish ji!
