The walls of SF city are being made pee-proof through and through. The urinators have tried to be stopped in the past when peeing outdoors was banned in the year 2002, and a fine ranging from $50-$500 was imposed. But, not much of a difference was observed.

To start with, nine walls of the city, have been painted over with a hydrophobic coat that repels urine. The violator is served back what they dished out. This idea has been inspired by Hamburg, a German city, where urine repellent paint has helped curb the number of people too bothered to find a restroom.

This decision to coat the wall with the special paint has been opposed by some. The sole reason for this would be concern for the homeless. They house the streets, and don’t have any roof over their head; the option of a toilet is rather far-fetched. The Atlantic’s City Lab highlighted, “People who pee outside often would prefer to pee inside….if we don’t want them to pee on the street, we must provide alternatives.”
