S S Rajamouli makes a big statement at International level : RRR is not a Bollywood film!
After conquering the hearts of millions of fans with his ‘Bahubali’ franchise, S S Rajamouli took the world by storm with his film ‘RRR’. The euphoria this film created even in the west is unheard of! The westerners were grooving madly on the foot tapping numbers of the film and were sitting aghast in their seats watching the amazing action sequences. The film became a phenomena worldwide and created a huge buzz around the film. The film was bagged the prestigious Golden Globe award for the Best Song (motion picture) and the whole country went mad with happiness. The song ‘Naatu naatu’ has been a rage since the release of the film and now the world acknowledges it. The win is also big because it came against stalwarts like Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga.

The whole country including the Hindi film industry too has been basking in the glory of this success. And amidst this, S S Rajamouli has a made a big statement saying that saying that his acclaimed magnum opus RRR is not a Bollywood movie. Rajamouli was speaking at the screening of his movie with the Directors Guild of America recently. He said in front of the people present : “RRR is not a Bollywood film, it is a Telugu film from the south of India where I come from, but I use the song to move the story forward rather than stopping the film and giving you a piece of music and dance. I just use those elements to move to story forward… If at the end of the film, if you say I didn’t feel it like three hours, then I know I am a successful filmmaker.” This is to note that the west thinks our movies as Bollywood movies where there is nothing but song and dance. Also they do not know they have many film industries producing movies simultaneously in different languages. For them, all films from India are made in Hindi and are known as Bollywood films. The clarification from Rajamouli was necessary because Indian films are not just about dance and songs and also there aren’t just Hindi Films being made in the country!

One thing we know for sure is that we are mighty proud of SS Rajamouli and his team and we would love for him bring home an Oscar trophy! Hindi or Tamil, this is definitely going to be a win for our country India!
