Common sense denotes the ability to demonstrate effective and efficient judgement. Common sense is an ability that evolves through the interaction between our innate intelligence and our knowledge of the surroundings. That is why, many a times, substantial common sense can be found in people lacking formal education whereas it may be totally absent in people who are extremely qualified. Therefore, common sense is more related to applied knowledge rather than formal education. People without common sense would always find it tough to take decisions on the things related to real life scenario.
There is another dimension to common sense. It has been observed that often people are afraid to apply common sense due to their own insecurities or inferiority complex. They simply don’t trust themselves and their own ability to apply judgments. They would rather trust anything and everything that is written in the books formally. In fact, they fail to understand that example scenarios are bookish and too idealistic and cannot be compared to real life scenarios where number of probabilistic parameters are too high. Rather than bookish information, they should be open and logical enough to process and perceive information received through the real life channels.
