According to our information, British troops are testing an invisibility cloak which is very similar to the one shown in the Harry Potter movie. The experiments are being conducted in United States. This cloak seems to be a huge success as it helps them to hide from the enemy completely. Soldiers are already hailing it as a “brilliant piece”.

Invisibility-Cloak

Soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, The Rifles, participated in the field trial. They used a camouflage sheet known as Vatec which is even invisible to infrared and heat-searching devices. The unique material can be molded into shapes that match the terrains. According to the report, the searching soldiers, who acted as enemy, could not even trace the hiding soldiers despite actively searching for them.

This unique material was jointly developed by the researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University of Illinois. Attempts have been made to mimic the special abilities of cephalopods such as the octopus and squid who are expert in blending themselves in the surroundings to deceive their predators.

This specific technology is called “visual appearance modulation”. Here, at one side of the material, there are tiny light-sensitive cells. These cells are sensitive to the colours of the environment. Once these sensors detect the colours, the electrical signals generated trigger the top layer of the material to imitate those colours using heat-sensitive dyes. The total process takes only two to three seconds to complete.
