Neena Gupta reveals the exact feelings she had at Masaba’s birth!
Neena Gupta who can give any new actress a run for her money even at 63, needs no introduction. She has been in the Hindi Film Industry for a very long time – almost four decades and she has proved her mettle time and again. The super fit, super beautiful, yoga loving actress was always talented but got her due recognition quite late. For most of her life, people concentrated more on her personal life than her professional one! She had created quite a scandal when she decided to have West Indies cricketer Viv Richards’ baby out of wedlock! It was a very big deal that time – it still is! So when she was asked about the moment she gave birth to her daughter Masaba, she was quite frank about it.

Neena wanted to keep the bay when she discovered that she was pregnant with Viv’s baby. She was in love with him and she also knew the future of her relationship. She knew, he would never leave his country for her and neither will she do that for him. But she did want the baby without a doubt. So she had Masaba – her beautiful daughter. Neena Gupta revealed that people thought she was super cool in defying social norms at that time and she was way ahead of her time but Neena admits that she was as traditional as any other woman of that time. So when she gave birth to Masaba, she felt extreme happiness, but she was also shaking with trepidation as to what people will say about her. She did become an unwed mother but she was traditional in her thinking. contrary to popular belief, she did not think she as brave in fact she always kept thinking about how people will judge her as a person now. As much as she loved her daughter, it bothered her that people will always talk behind her back.

But she gradually overcame her fear with the help of a very supportive family and friends. She was also open about accepting her regret about having a baby out of wedlock, not because it was wrong but because it was very frustrating for both her and her daughter and she does not want a child to grow up without a father. But past is past and this is what made her the woman she is today. So hats off to this strong lady!
