Manoj Muntashir finally issues an apology for ‘Adipurush’! This is how netizens reacted!
On June 16, Adipurush opened in theatres, but the controversy around it that had begun way before its release is yet to die down because the fans of the epic and globally worshipped ‘Ramayana’ aren’t ready to let it go so easily. Due to the handling of the matter and contentious phrases like “marega bete,” “bua ka bagicha hain kya,” and “jalegi tere baap ki,” the producers of “Adipurush” have come under fire from critics and several internet users. Even when the filmmakers changed and reworked a few dialogues, the movie still received negative reviews.

This is to note that the one person who has received the most flak is the dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir because according to people, he simply killed the dignity of the epic just by his words. When the initial criticism had started pouring in, Muntashir was adamant that he had done nothing wrong and had even issued a statement that was quite rude for the audiences. Talking about the people’s criticism about the dialogues, he had commented: “‘Hanuman is not God but a mere devotee. We made him God because his devotion had that power’ and ‘It is not an error. It is a very meticulous thought process that has gone into writing the dialogues for Bajrang Bali and for all the characters. We have made it simple because we have to understand one thing, if there are multiple characters in a film, all cannot speak the same language.”

But now facing huge backlash from the audiences and netizens as well, Muntashir has come back to his senses and has issued an unconditional apology saying : “I accept people’s emotions have been hurt by Adipurush. With folded hands, I extend my unconditional apologies. May Prabhu Bajrang Bali keep us united and grant us strength to serve our sacred Sanatan and our great nation.” Manoj Muntashir’s post received a lot of responses and quickly became popular. Many criticised him for his “100 chuhe khake billi haj ko chali” behaviour and left derogatory comments like, “Ye kam pehle kar lete, to ye naubat na aati,” “Movie theatre se utarne ke baad sorry bol rahe ho, tum bohot ghatiya insaan ho,” and “Don’t say sorry, rather donate all the earnings from the movie to Gaushalas and Temple.” This is to note that not all were criticizing him, there were some who supported him too. Some of them commented : ‘Kabhi Kabhi achche log bhi bhatak jate hain‘ and ‘Galti sabhi se hoti hai par aapne galati sweekar ki ye achchi baat hai‘. It is good that he apologized but the makers should also have issued an apology because this wasn’t just a writer’s mistake, it was an entire team’s !
