Athletes and joggers alike might prefer to use wearable assistive device like Exoskeletons to boost up their activity, but the whole gear isn’t necessary, seeing as only your knee needs the help. That is where the Levitation brace comes in.

Created by Canadian startup Spring Loaded Technology, the (mostly) carbon fiber brace features a hinge whose working relies of the concept of manual energy storage without the use of batteries or motors. It stores energy when the wearer bends their knee and subsequently releases the energy while the straightens it back out. This helps the leg muscles to move the calf into place for the next step.

There are two upcoming models based on the kind of users: the A Series for athletes, and the M Series for medical use. The power return level and the range of motion can be adjusted by the wearer.

Levitation reportedly works just as well as the conventional braces and weighs about the same. An estimated price of US$2,000 has been announced after it becomes available shortly.
