A new water-resistant paint that doesn’t crack, heat or has been recently whipped up by Dr. Jason Benkoski, a scientist at Johns Hopkins University. He used potassium silicate, the chief component in glass that makes water soluble in it to create paint. Once it is sprayed and dried, it’s water resistant properties start to kick in. Added pigment is to boost colour and hidden reflective properties.

Heating up can have adverse effects on the paint job as they can age prematurely, not to mention make them uncomfortable to touch. This new paint moulding with glass which makes it right up reflect back the heat. The traditional paints give off volatile organic components, which this one does not, being mostly inorganic.

Steering away from the organic polymer-based paints available in the market, this new paint is inorganic which gives it the liberty to expand with the heat, and not crack up.
