Distributors Were Not Ready To Buy This Movie of Aamir Khan But Released A Year Later After This Big Hit
Aamir Khan – The Mr. Perfectionist had taken the Hindi Film Industry by storm when he made his debut with ‘Qayamat se Qayamat Tak’. The whole nation went crazy after Aamir and his cute pairing with Juhi Chawla. People and even distributors just wanted to see and cast these two together in the movies. But there was one man who thought otherwise. Director Y. Nageshwar Rao cast Aamir and Madhuri together in a movie as he believed that they looked good together and head a pleasing chemistry between the two of them. He completed the film and when it was screened for the distributors, they refused to buy the film because they thought only Aamir and Juhi looked good together and he pairing of Aamir with Madhuri was a disaster. The name of the film was ‘Deewana Mujhsa Nahin’. They also thought that Aamir’s role was not as meaty as Madhuri’s. This was in 1989. So the film was canned.

Then came 1990 and Aamir-Madhuri’s ‘Dil’ released in the theatres. The film broke many records and people just loved the chemistry between Aamir and Madhuri. Riding high on the success of this film, the distributors then decided to take ‘Deewana Mujhsa Nahin ‘ out of the cannned boxes and release it. So the movie was released a year later, one month after the release of ‘Dil’. Though it did only average business, the good thing is it did come out and people got to see this pairing once again.
