Shahrukh and Gauri’s love story is a true blue fairy tale love story with all the ups and downs and happy endings. But before they reached their happy ending, there were a lots of lows. Their marriage is now 32 years old but their affair started almost four decades ago when Hindu-Muslim love or marriages were unheard of. It was Shahrukh who fell in love with Gauri first and Gauri couldn’t help but fall in love with the charming electrifying persistent Shahrukh. IN the initial stages of their story they knew they had a Herculean task of convincing their parents. First Shahrukh was a Muslim and second he did not have a job and wanted to be an actor. Both of them were madly in love but scared too. This is why Gauri had introduced Shahrukh as ‘Abhinav’ to her parents .

But slowly as the love story started unfolding, Gauri’s parents got to know Shahrukh’s true identity and this troubled them to no end. They were not ready to marry Gauri off in a Muslim family. Gauri’s mother got so distraught that she swallowed many sleeping pills in order to end her life. But luckily she as saved. Tensions were high in Gauri’s household though Shahrukh’s mother did not have any qualms about the marriage. The duo then lied that they have already got married whereas they had only registered a court marriage. Gauri’s parents then gave in. It is said that Shahrukh had changed his name to Jeetendra Kumar Tuli because his grandmother thought he resembled Jeetendra and Tuli was a tribute to Rajendra Kumar ji whose real surname was Tuli. Even Gauri had changed her name to a Muslim name at the time of Nikaah.

Finally after many ups and downs Gauri and Shahrukh got married and lived happily ever after!
