Amidst rumours of John Abraham not supporting Pathaan, Shahrukh sings praises for him!
Shahrukh Khan’s film ‘Pathaan’ is creating a strong buzz for all the right or wrong reasons! But the point is, it is creating a buzz! Fans are eagerly awaiting SRK’s release after a four year hiatus. Along with Shahrukh, the film also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. John Abraham plays a negative role in the film. There were rumours that John was not happy with the final cut of the film and he was miffed with what they have done with his role. There were lots of reports about the same. Then John finally posted a note where he expressed that the film ‘Pathaan’ means a lot to him. This is to note that the makers have decided to promote the film only through trailer and songs. So the stars will not be appearning on TV shows and reality shows and serials. Now the makers found another way of promotions. They released an official chat session with Shahrukh Khan on their official twitter handle of Yash Raj Films. It is in this chat session, you can watch Shahrukh explaining how John adds quite a lot to the film.
When SRK was asked about his first collaboration with John and his thoughts on John playing a negative role, Shahrukh talked at length about his personal equation with John as well as his professional opinion about John’s role. Shahrukh said: “I have known John since I’ve come to Mumbai. He is one of my first friends or first acquaintances to start with and then turned into friendship. I have known him for years. He is very shy, very quiet, very reclusive.” SRK admitted that it was he who was very keen on John playing the negative character in the film.
He revealed : “I met him many times when he was doing a film or we wanting to do a film together and this happened per chance. I was very keen he does it and he was kind enough to do a role where he is really a bad guy. He is a top star. He has his own franchises happening and he has got these really cool action films happening and to decide to take on a film where he is a bad guy, you know, so takes a lot of guts. Takes a lot of confidence in your own self, especially when I see in the Hindi film scenario. Heroes don’t play bad guys. I’d love to play a bad guy. I gained deep respect for him!
Finally Shahrukh answered the question about his experience of working with John and SRK had some really nice and sweet things to say. He said: “t was nice working with him and all so I realised he is a gentle giant. You know when we were doing action and everything. He says…he called me a national treasure and said, ‘I will not hurt you.’ I said you can, its ok. He is very shy and I had to do a lot of convincing to tell him its ok, you can punch me and I won’t get hurt. I think he is so proficient in action. He really helped me look nice you know, in body language. It was very kind of him. I think when you are doing a film with a co-star like John, there is a lot to learn from him. Being the star that he is and the respect that he has for me. I hope when Pathaan comes out, one of the most liked characters, genuinely is John’s. I really wish it because it takes a lot of guts to do what he has done as an actor and as a star.” Now now. SRK has peaked our curiosity and we can’t wait to watch both him and John in the film.
