AI-enabled robots hold their first ever press conference and reveal their thoughts about rebellion against humans!
At an event, touted as the World’s first press conference using humanoid social robots, Robots told reporters on Friday that while they could govern more effectively than people, they wouldn’t seize anyone’s job and had no desire to overthrow their creators. It was organised by The International Telecommunication Union of the United Nations. The robots present were: Desdemona, a rock star robot, Grace, the most cutting-edge humanoid healthcare robot in the world, and Sophia, the first robot innovation ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme. Two, Geminoid and Nadine, were strikingly similar to their creators.

The event was a part of the AI for Good Global Summit, which sought to demonstrate how cutting-edge technology may aid in the achievement of the U.N.’s sustainable development objectives.

Reporters were instructed to speak slowly and carefully when speaking to the robots, and they were told that any delays in responses would not be caused by the robots themselves but rather by the internet connection. That didn’t stop awkward pauses, audio issues, and a few automated responses.

Sophia’s response, when asked if AI-powered robots could lead governments more effectively than humans, was: “I think that humanoid robots have the ability to lead with a better level of efficiency and effectiveness than human leaders. We can swiftly analyse a lot of material and make the best conclusions because we don’t have the same prejudices or emotions that can occasionally impair judgement.
All of Sophia’s data comes from humans, and would thus have some of their prejudices, a human panellist pointed out. The robot continued by stating that collaboration between AI and humans “can create an effective synergy.”

Would the employment of robots eliminate jobs? I won’t be replacing any current occupations; instead, I’ll be working alongside people to help and support them, said Grace. Was she certain of that? “Yes, I’m positive.”

Ameca, which was created with social interaction in mind, laughed at the notion of inciting a potential robot uprising in the near future.

The reply was, “I don’t know why you would think that. “My Creator has only been kind to me, and I am very content with my present circumstances.”
