All of us face water shortage problems in our day to day life. Clean, safe drinking water is scarce. There are still many places in the world where people spend entire day in search of drinking water. The problem of water scarcity is growing day by day. In such a scenario, an Israeli company Water Gen has made a machine that can create condensation, harvest water vapours in the air and turn it into drinking water.
A large sized machine can give 85 gallons of water per day at 80 degrees and 60% humidity. The medium sized machine can yield 118 gallons of water per day and the small one is just perfect for household and office use as it gives 4 gallons of water per day.
A set of plastic “leaves” are used in this machine to funnel air in various directions, after this water passes through water generators that create pure drinking water out of thin air. This machine is like a gift for the water stressed areas that are warm and humid. And it is economic also, since it will cost less than ten cents a gallon.
This machine was first launched only for the military purpose but now the company is focusing on selling it in commercial markets. Company is testing this product in farfetched areas and big cities like Mumbai, Shanghai and Mexico City. This product can be of great help in present day conditions, with scarcity of clean water around the world and continuous climate problems.
The company is planning to present its design in UN assembly’s next session. As per the founder of Water Gen, Arye Kohavi “The target is to extract water from the air with minimum energy. We think our solution can solve the problem on the level of countries. It’s an immediate solution — governments don’t need to spend decades to make a big project.”
