These bridges are selected not only from engineering and architecture point of view but also from the point of view of historical importance and significance to the local population.

#1. Golden Gate Bridge

The Golden Gate Bridge is probably one of the most interesting bridges. It is a massive suspension bridge covering the Golden Gate strait , the mile-wide, three-mile-long channel between San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. It is located at San Francisco in United States. Golden gate bridge is 2,737 m long with its longest suspended span is 1,280 m. The construction was started during 1933. Its reported elevation is 67m and its height is 227 m.

#2. Akashi Kaikyo Bridge

The Akashi Kaikyo bridge is well known as Pearl Bridge. It’s a suspended bridge which connects the city of Kobe on the mainland of Honshu to Iwaya on Awaji Island in Japan. This bridge crosses the busy Akashi Strait. It carries part of the Honshu-Shikoku Highway. The construction was started during May 1988. The total length is 3,911 m. and its height is 283 m. The architecture was designed by a firm named Honshu Shikoku Bridge Authority.

#3. Millau Viaduct

The Milau Viaduct is a typical cable-stayed bridge that spreads across the valley of the River Tarn near Milau in Southern France. The construction was started on 10th October, 2001. The bridge is located in France with a total length of 2,460 m and height of 343 m. Its concerned architects are Norman Foster and Michel Virlogeux.
